Book scheme hits Cedar Rapids merchants warned by BBB
The Central and Eastern Iowa Better Business Bureau cautions Cedar Rapids businesses after three calls in 15 minutes about a false billing scheme. A caller claimed to represent a drug awareness program Open Your Eyes selling America’s Grass Roots books for 42 to 50 dollars and demanded payment with an invoice.

Oil spill east of Traer tested for PCBs
Iowa Department of Natural Resources will test a spill near Traer for PCBs as a precaution. The spill at the base of two of 17 storage tanks belongs to A&M Oil Co. owner Al Schmidt. Tank labels indicated possible PCB storage. no leaks or streams affected.
