Two unidentified men described as part of an out of state wandering group were held in Memphis Missouri on theft suspicions after an elderly Rathbun couple reported about $2000 missing during home repairs. The money was recovered and four complaints in the county involved the group. Sheriff Banks urged caution with outsiders seeking jobs.

Sunbathers Save Boy From Drowning in Urbandale Pool
In Urbandale a 9-year-old boy was rescued from a pool after being under water for minutes. 12-year-old Brad Sherman pulled him from the bottom, Jim Blumhardt performed CPR until EMS arrived, and the boy was flown to Mercy Hospital.

Durant fish kill report to be sent to state agency
Durant officials will decide next month if a local fertilizer firm should be fined for a spill that killed fish in Mud Creek. A May 2 release of four tons of ammonium zinc chloride from a rail car will be reviewed after investigators found the company did not report the accident until May 5.
