State wins discrimination case in Iowa Corrections
A Polk County jury ruled that Michael Savala did not prove discrimination by age or Hispanic ethnicity by former Iowa Department of Corrections director Jerry Bartruff. Savala, in-house lawyer for 20 years, alleged exclusion from meetings and missing performance reviews costing wages. The defense said alleged slights were not severe or pervasive and reviews were incomplete due to Bartruff’s duties.
