Fire at Lake Ridge Park injures and displaces residents
A stubborn fire at the Lake Ridge Park manufactured housing community in Iowa City affected eleven people and displaced seven. About 120 firefighters from Johnson County agencies fought the blaze until about 5 a.m. on Wednesday with only minor injuries reported. Neighbors and Phil Wagner organized item drives and provided unoccupied homes to families. clothing and other items are being collected.

Second fire at MidAmerican Louisa plant contained
A second major blaze in four months hit a MidAmerican Energy generating station in Louisa County Wednesday afternoon. About 40 firefighters fought the fire, which started in a coal collection area on the ninth floor and was contained by a built in protection system. A February fire had shut the plant down. the cause of that blaze was pig oil catching fire.
