Roosevelt pilots reading program to boost low readers
Roosevelt Elementary tested SuccessMaker with pre and post tests based on the Stanford Reading Diagnostic Test in fall and spring. The district will compare results with the Iowa Test of Basic Skills in fall. Cost was about $14,000 for the program and 10 licenses. Funds came from IDEA and dropout prevention money. Roosevelt chose the program after years without a remedial drill, and the school no longer has Macintosh computers for older software. Other schools may benefit from the findings.
