Segregation in Sports Backed By Birmingham

In Birmingham Alabama voters backed a referendum to restore full segregation of athletes in all sports events, with 13 646 for and 5791 against from 161 of 179 precincts. City officials expected possible court challenges while sponsors cited social traditions.
