CORWITH, UP, May The investigation into the slaying of Bert Anfinson, a Corwith beer parlor operator, continued as state agents planned to question David W. Stephens, 44, of Corwith, further. Stephens was fined 25 dollars and costs on intoxication charges by Justice H. V. Reed. Frank Weider, who admitted drinking with Anfinson the night before the murder, remains jailed at Mason City on first degree murder charges and proclaims his innocence.
Special to The Gazette Tama-Wallace Metz, 33, a farmer five miles southeast of Tama, drowned when his tractor slipped over the bank into the Iowa River while plowing. The body was recovered late Tuesday after a passerby sighted the craft and the surface glimpsed the victim. He leaves a wife, two children, and his father Ben Metz of Tama.

The body of a 17 year old bicyclist killed in the same incident remained unidentified. Sheriff James H Smith and Sheriff Leland Fry coordinated investigations.
