Cedar Rapids unveils 144 million convention complex with hotel
The Center Corbet transformation adds 267 hotel rooms and 81 779 square feet of exhibit space plus 12 359 square feet of ballroom and 19 383 square feet of meeting space. The Double Tree by Hilton Cedar Rapids makes it the second largest center in the state. Local leaders say the facility will attract large conferences and boost downtown commerce. A time capsule was placed to mark the opening and a dance performance surprised attendees.
