Bluestem Solid Waste Agency officials seek better ways to curb litter from uncovered loads near Landfill No. 2 on County Home Road north of Marion. Director Karmin Bradbury said residents have a legitimate gripe and noted violators recovering inside gates.
The Gazette lists new and ongoing road projects with completion estimates from early June to July. Roads include Ellis Boulevard sections, First Avenue SE, Edgewood Road NW, Center Point Road NE, North Marion Road, Mount Vernon Road, Linn Ridge, and Mehaffey Bridge Road. Interstate 80 east of Iowa City has shoulder and lane work.
The plan calls for a 7,500 seat arena a 22 000 square foot exhibition hall and a 30 000 square foot convention center with a 133 room attached hotel total project cost about 150 million matching RiverRun. Funding comes from Harrah's Casino Iowa West Foundation Council Bluffs and Pottawattamie County with private development and public infrastructure support. The project aims to break even early on with the Iowa West Foundation stepping in if deficits occur.
