OPA Cuts Ceiling On Bakery Flour Prices
The Office of Price Administration lowered by 23 to 38 cents per hundredweight the ceiling on soft wheat bakery flour sold by eastern and central mills. The Defense Supplies Corp raised the flour subsidy to millers by six cents per bushel to 18 cents for soft wheat ground outside the Pacific coast. The changes take effect Thursday to align soft wheat flour more with hard wheat and Pacific coast producers. New York cake flour prices are listed at 4.67 for cake, 4.00 for under 41 percent ash, and 3.77 for over 41 percent ash. Louisville prices are 4.42, 3.75, and 3.52 respectively.
