Swisher Faces Sunday Dancing Crisis in Local Fight
In Swisher a feud pits Mayor George Chadima against Frank Stangler over a Sunday dancing ban. Stangler seeks injunctions against Chadima and Town Marshal Ed Smrhal for enforcing the ordinance and prosecuting Sunday operations at the Pavilion dance hall. The council approved the ban 4 to 1, with Serbousek opposing. The dispute centers on legality and governance as Swisher’s Pavilion fuels town commerce across Johnson and Linn counties.
