A head on collision between two Iowa Interstate freight trains in Altoona killed two crewmen. About 1,000 people were evacuated nearby as a fire on a denatured alcohol tank car burned safely. Officials warned of potential explosion risk while Amusement park rides remained open for thousands nearby.

74 year old Alabama man drives 600 miles for dentist visit
Frank Collier, 74, of Centreville Alabama, left for a Birmingham area dentist appointment at 4 AM Friday. He was found 17 hours later lost in Indiana about 600 miles from home, later saying he planned to reach Centreville. Police blocked his car on Indiana 332 near Muncie and noted the odd route before determining his mistaken path.
