No Early Use for New Jones Fairways Open
Jones Park golf course in Cedar Rapids will not open the new nine holes this year amid dry weather and flood concerns. Parks Commissioner Stan Reinis cites heavy play, ongoing creek work, and a desire to let new greens establish before use. The project, begun after 1974 land acquisitions, adds elevated greens and reconfigured holes to raise flood protection.
