Prairie Printer novel recalls Iowa pioneer printing era
Miss Marjorie Medary of Waukon writes fiction based on her grandfather Thomas Corwin Medary a 19th century Iowa printer. The novel Prairie Printer sequel to Buckeye Boy traces Tom Kenyon from Ohio to Illinois Iowa frontier towns and early newspapers amid Kansas turmoil and Fremont Lincoln politics. It weaves Iowa history with pioneer journalism as Medary balances writing with textbook editing in Boston and Hampton Connecticut.
