Sunshine Mission Closes After 72 Years in Cedar Rapids
The Sunshine Mission ended its 72 year run by housing and feeding its last transients Friday night. Started in 1895 to aid indigents before Social Security, it operated quietly from First Street and First Avenue and later 121 Second Street NE. Urban Renewal will repurpose the site with a foundation planned to support charitable work.
