NATO deaths in eastern Afghanistan rise amid Taliban attacks
Two NATO service members were killed in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday amid a surge in insurgent attacks that have left at least 42 international troops dead this month. NATO also said Afghan-NATO forces killed a Taliban financier in Balkh province after threats to security forces. Amid escalation, attacks in June topped 3,200, the highest monthly total since mid-2010, though analysts warn the metric can mislead about progress.
