Link suspected McDonald’s stickups in Des Moines Iowa City
Des Moines police linked a Thursday McDonald’s robbery attempt to a prior Iowa City heist that netted about $4,700. John Urvanik, 20, was injured when shot by a Des Moines officer during the incident. his companion Antonio Garcia, 21, was jailed on armed robbery charges. Authorities say both wore Halloween masks and used a pistol. one bandit surrendered his weapon to workers.

Summer Graduation at Hancher Auditorium Friday Night

Watershed Study Planned for Iowa County
Fred White of Parnell announced a special watershed study in Iowa County later this year under the federal water pollution control act. The 19 744 acre Old Man's Creek watershed near Williamsburg was chosen for its representative soil climate and topography for east central Iowa. The Iowa department of soil conservation will hold meetings and interview farmers on cropping systems soil and water conservation pesticide use and farm plans to support the state and federal water quality management program.
