Right to Be Present at Birth Denied by Hospital Rule
A couple sought the father's presence in the delivery room under the Lamaze method. The hospital's policy excluded fathers, citing infection and disruption risks. The U S court of appeals upheld the rule, ruling marital privacy does not include the right to have the husband present in a public hospital delivery room for medical reasons.
