Hearing Aug 9 On Budget in College District

A public hearing on a proposed general fund budget of 1,487,041 for the College Community school district will be held at 8 p.m. August 9 in the Prairie High School library. The spending plan calls for nine additional mills raising the rate from 58 to 67 mills, though new valuations from plants may shave three mills from the tax ask. Increased teacher salaries, capital outlay for a new intermediate building, and reduced state aid drive the higher expenditures as the board also revised the district's transportation plan.
