Linn County budget clash over sheriff funds in Cedar Rapids
Sheriff Don Zeller and Supervisor Chairman Jim Houser spar over a countywide 0.5 percent cut equal to about 950 000 dollars. Zeller seeks an 81 000 dollar reduction including one courthouse deputy and access changes, while Houser disputes counting security cuts from the sheriff's budget. The three Democratic supervisors will finalize the plan next month. Linn County also earned an Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting award for its annual financial report prepared by county officials.
