Moslem Prayer Minaret to Ring Across Washington

The capital will hear the call to prayer five times daily from a 160 foot aluminum minaret atop a new Washington mosque. The mosque and educational center serve over 1,000 Muslims and are funded by a foundation supported by 11 Muslim diplomatic missions. Donations include King Farouk prior to his reign end, plus contributions from the Nizam of Hyderabad, American Arabian Oil, the king of Iraq, the prince of Kuwait, and Saudi royals.
