Murder defendant admits killing Marion woman
Christoph Murray told The Gazette he killed Mary McBride after sex along the recreation trail in northeast Cedar Rapids but said it was not premeditated. The 32 year old told police his fiancee prompted the crime, and Marion Police Chief Harry Daugherty said investigators believe the motive differs from Murray’s account. Murray is jailed on a first degree murder charge connected to McBride's June 18 death.
