First Kentucky Settlement at Harrodsburg 1775 Event
Followers of James Harrod claim Harrodsburg as Kentucky’s first permanent settlement in 1775. Fort Harrod rose in 1777 as one of three stations that withstood early Indian attacks during the Revolutionary War. George Rogers Clark was at Fort Harrod planning his 1778 79 campaign.

Central YMCA Jogging and Tennis Club Seeks Participants
The Central YMCA offers a Jogging and Tennis club this week with sessions Monday Wednesday and Friday 5 15 to 6 45 p m at the Coe athletic field. Non member fee is 15 with free access for YMCA members and Coe students and faculty. Marion Ellis Y members pay 10. Sessions run until Aug 27. An eight class yoga session starts Monday with no initial charge.
