First fatal Marshall County crash of 2017 linked to high speed
An 18 year old from Grundy County, Devon Erickson, died after a crash in Green Mountain, Marshall County, minutes into 2017. He had a BAC of 0.126 and was recorded at 101 mph before the crash. Steven Hoffman became sheriff days later and traffic safety became a priority. The county saw 12 traffic deaths in 2017, placing it third in the state behind Polk and Linn counties.
