Walter Reed Army Medical Center to close after a century
Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Army’s flagship hospital since 1909, will close its campus and transfer operations to Bethesda and Fort Belvoir. The move ends a historic era that treated presidents, war wounded, and foreign leaders, with moving ceremonies set and the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to absorb many services.
