Senate rejects rival drug plans for Medicare benefits

The Senate mostly along party lines rejected both Democratic and Republican prescription drug benefit plans for Medicare. Grassley led a Republican $340 billion plan with a $24 monthly premium and $250 annual deductible, plus 10 percent of costs above $3,700.
