Osborne Conservation Center Highlights Clayton County Parks

Fall turkey permits open. licenses and seasons set
The Iowa Conservation Commission accepts fall shotgun and muzzle-loading hunting license applications through August 10. Licenses cost 15 dollars. Shotgun season runs October 19 to 31 with two zones open, bow season from October 9 to December 3. In unrelated fishing news, Brian Padget and family caught a 5 pound 20 inch largemouth bass at a Davis County pond on June 26.

New Iowa rule allows metal detectors at state parks
Beginning Sept 8 the Iowa Conservation Commission permits metal detector use at state parks and recreational areas under limits. Detectors may be used during regular hours except in unmowed areas campgrounds or designated historic or archaeological sites. From May 22 to Sept 7 detectors may be used at designated beach areas daily 430 a.m. to 830 a.m. Users must carry a litter bag for trash disposal.
