Butter market lifted by DPMA purchases in New York

The Dairy Products Marketing association boosted butter values by a quarter cent in New York while overall supply remains heavy across major markets. DPMA purchases totaled 26 092 tubs in New York and 45 227 tubs in Chicago, with government stockpiling rising faster than relief demand. Trade shows weakness in carton butter and ongoing pressure from high broiler production in Delaware and Maryland. Eggs face heat defects but refrigerator demand supports prices.
