CCC crews restore Backbone Lake area in Maquoketa River banks
In Strawberry Point, CCC Save Our Lake leader Harry Powell recalls the 1930s park work as modern crews with Stormont FFA under Dennis Miller and Mike Wade install riverbank hides to shelter trout in the Maquoketa River near Backbone State Park. The effort links to a July reunion and a push for funding to dredge the lake, with a swirling lake design proposed to reduce sediment.
