Midwest Pilot Rescued After North Vietnam Mission
Lt. Cmdr. Demetrio Verich of Laona Wisconsin was rescued from rugged hills near Hanoi after a bombing run was interrupted by a surface to air missile. Navy crews including Lt. Cmdr. Marvin Reynolds and helicopter teams located him using beeper signals and air support with Spad fighters. Verich hailed the rescue as the greatest day of his life.
