Drought Relief Brief Amid Cooler Weather in Iowa
Rainfall has been light with amounts mostly under one tenth of an inch across many locations. East central Iowa remains driest with Cedar Rapids Iowa City and the Quad Cities under an inch this month. Cooler conditions provided brief relief as at least one station did not hit 90 degrees for the first time since July 4. The National Weather Service will discontinue its daily drought statements until conditions justify reinstatement. Forecasts suggest a return to the 90s and limited improvement in drought.
