Two Central City Women Injured After One Car Accident
Natalie S. Mayer aged 23 of rural Central City and Virginia Allen 26 of Central City were treated and released from a Cedar Rapids hospital after a one car crash on highway 30 east of Cedar Rapids. Linn county sheriff officers said Mayer fell asleep at the wheel causing the vehicle to drift across the westbound lane and crash between two trees in a field. Mayer was charged with failing to have her vehicle under control.

Elbow Gunshot Wound Lands Teen in Mercy Hospital

Harold B. Lutes 74 of 1617 B Avenue NE died unexpectedly Tuesday. A World War I veteran and 50 year member of Central Park Presbyterian Church he worked 25 years as a deputy city assessor. He married Alma Brandenburg in Clinton in 1928 and is survived by a sister and a brother. Memorial services Thursday at Turner Chapel East with burial at Linwood Cemetery. Two Wadena Men Burned In Misfire Fire Accident
Special to The Gazette Two Wadena men Charles Puffet and Doyle Gage were severely burned while burning brush for Puffet cabin site four miles east of Wadena. The flames exploded when Puffet reportedly threw a five gallon gasoline can on the fire. Both men, burned on face back chest and hands, were treated first at Elkader then transferred by Postville ambulance to University hospitals in Iowa City in satisfactory condition Wednesday afternoon.
