Swisher man wins FAA award for balloon instruction
Adam Magee of Swisher operates a hot air balloon academy and has been named the 2024 National Flight Instructor of the Year by the FAA's General Aviation Awards Committee. The award will be presented by Michael Whitaker at Air Ventures in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Magee is the first Iowan to win in the award's 60 year history. he runs the Balloon Training Academy with wife Kim and trains hundreds yearly through courses, webinars, and online programs in partnership with the National Association of Flight Instructors.

Unity Point St Luke's Opens Marion ER With Events
Unity Point Health St Luke's Hospital will open a 24 7 emergency room in Marion on August 6. Two weekend events include a ribbon cutting at 2 30 p m Friday and an open house Saturday from 11 a m to 1 p m with tours and refreshments at 3301 Armar Dr off First Avenue East. The Marion ER will operate 24 7 year round staffed by emergency medicine providers from East Central Iowa Acute Care and hospital staff.
