Cascade utility deposits to drop to state level
Cascade Municipal Utilities plans to reduce deposits from the two highest months to the single highest month and shorten refund eligibility from five years to 12 months. Landlord Geoffrey Zoller says deposits as high as 450 for a two bedroom and 1200 for a five bedroom deter tenants. CMU argues state rules don’t bind them but will adopt changes. The Iowa Utilities Board will review retroactive effects and reimbursements.
