Cedar Rapids lawyer Lauren Becker dies after cancer battle
Lauren Lynn Becker, Atlanta attorney and longtime defender of indigent clients in federal criminal cases, died July 17 2012 in New York at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital at age 58 after a two year battle with uterine cancer. Born in Cedar Rapids Iowa May 3 1954 she earned degrees at the University of Texas and Cumberland Law School and held licenses in Alabama and Georgia. She is survived by her father mother sisters and brother and a memorial fund has been established in her name at Guaranty Bank & Trust. Funeral services will be held in Atlanta and a memorial service is noted for July 22 in Cedar Rapids.
