Lightning ignites blaze at Escravos oil terminal

A bolt of lightning sparked a fire at ChevronTexaco's Escravos terminal in southeastern Nigeria. The tank held about 180000 barrels of crude. 80000 barrels were pumped out as crews used remote chemical cannons to control the blaze. No injuries reported amid ongoing tensions with nearby village women demanding jobs and amenities.

Grounding order lifted for firefighting planes

The grounding of much of the aging air tanker fleet was lifted Saturday after a two day pause following two deadly crashes. Nine similar planes remain grounded pending federal investigations. A PB4Y-2 Privateer, a WWII era bomber, broke up in flight near Rocky Mountain National Park while delivering retardant.
