Cedar Rapids Girl Killed After Car Collision

Eastern Iowa roads rated largely in critical condition

More than one third of Iowa Eastern region highways are in critical shape. IDOT reports 37 percent of District 6 routes and 33 percent of District 5 routes earn critical ratings, with about 26 percent of Iowa roads overall in critical condition. Jim Cable notes aging highways and high traffic drive the problem. The rating system aims to guide future road work and will be revised to emphasize maintenance.
