Lauren Lynn Becker, 58, of Cedar Rapids died July 17 2012 in New York at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital after a uterine cancer battle. She practiced law in Atlanta for 30 years defending indigent defendants and earned a law degree from Cumberland. Norman Ramsey, 88, Cedar Rapids native, died July 11 2012 in Appleton Wisconsin. He taught at Wartburg and St Olaf, produced Urbanlandia, and donated his skyscraper collection to an urban habitat council. Memorial services are planned in Atlanta and later dates.

A Jasper County felon arrested in November for firearm and hunting offenses has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Keokuk County, its Sheriff Jeff Shipley, the Sheriff’s Office, and Deputy Adam Pence alleging excessive force and due process violations.
