Lawyers urge valuing wives as more than hirelings
Pennsylvania lawyer William C. Archbold Jr. told Iowa trial lawyers that damages in wrongful death cases should reflect a wife and mother's companionship and duties. He cited long workweeks, cited studies valuing a housewife's labor, and suggested witnesses to prove loss. He advised tailoring arguments to defense strong points and noting remarriage is irrelevant. On this date in 1974 Cyprus fighting continued as the U N Security Council convened over the Turkish invasion.
