Furniture firms snap up Toys R Us stores in auctions
Retailers including Aldi Burlington and Ollies Bargain Outlet won 53 store auctions as Toys R Us liquidates. Ashley Furniture bought a Western Avenue Chicago store in Lakeview, Big Lots picked a Springfield Illinois site, landlords repurchased others in Springfield and Rockford. Wayne New Jersey based Toys R Us had 735 US stores when it began liquidation last fall.
