Judge Denies Delay in Bentley Trial to Start July 28
Sixth Judicial District Judge Denver Dillard refused to postpone the Benton County sexual abuse trial of James Bentley. Bentley's attorney was granted more time to file a resistance motion against amended trial information naming four additional inmate witnesses. The case will proceed in Osceola to seat an impartial Clarke County jury. Bentley, 36, of Vinton, faces multiple sexual abuse charges and already serves a 100-year federal sentence for related crimes.
