Cedar Rapids teen swindled in Nigerian counterfeit check scam
Cedar Rapids 17 year old motocross racer Drew Baker advertised his bike on a local Iowa site and accepted a Nigerian scam involving a fake cashier’s check and a wired payment of 3200. The fraud left Baker and his family with a 6900 bank deficit and damaged finances. Authorities warn beware of Nigerian counterfeit checks and advise verifying checks with issuing banks.
