Mrs Thelma Everts Delgado of Traer now employed by a Waterloo life insurance firm filed for divorce in Black Hawk county district court from her husband Ben Delgado. The couple wed in Porto Rico about a year and a half ago. Delgado, who ran an appliance store in Traer, left several months ago and his whereabouts are unknown.
A truck loaded with household goods overturned after a tire blew out on Highway 6 a half mile east of Atalissa. Des Moines residents A L Masoner and Clarence Hicklin were injured, Masoner with chest and back injuries, Hicklin with severe facial cuts, and both were hospitalized at Hershey in Muscatine.
Iowa City report notes a crash near highway 6 when Norbert Mott 20 of Cincinnati lost control on a curve. His passenger Justen Greine 20 also of Cincinnati suffered minor injuries as the car was demolished. Mott blamed the number 13 on his license plate.
Ensign Kenneth Bigelow 24 of the U S naval reserve died Friday night after a Jacksonville Florida air crash that injured Cadet Ira Ludwig of Milwaukee. His brother Thomas flew to Jacksonville with the body. He was a Waukon high school graduate and University of Iowa alumnus with air training at Pensacola. Survivors include Elton Bigelow of Minneapolis twin Keith of Stoughton and grandmother Mrs Lafayette Sewage of Waukon.
Iowa City doctors at the University of Iowa Hospital say night blindness, tied to vitamin A deficiency, may contribute to many nighttime automobile accidents. Dr. P. C. Jeans supports the theory with dark adaptation tests, noting vitamin A is often inadequate in diets. No conclusive driving proof has been shown yet.
Amy B. Crew 85 longtime Springville resident died at her son J G Crews home in Martelle Friday evening. She leaves daughter Maye C. Carris of Moline Ill son J G Crew of Martelle and three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services Sunday at 2 30 p m at Hunt Funeral Home Springville with Rev Harold Hewitt officiating. Burial in Jordans Grove Cemetery.
