Cedar Rapids 2000 Vision Dream by Local Student

In 1961 Cedar Rapids architectural student James H Rieniers sketched a 200,000 population future featuring a public auditorium on the Cedar River west edge, high rise near the Flood of 2008 site, and a Greene Square Park civic center. His 8 by 14 foot model toured Killian’s window for two weeks and was noted in The Gazette. Now living in Bradenton Florida since 1985, Rieniers recalls the project and shares photos.
