Iowa group aims to shelter 1000 unaccompanied refugee children
A Des Moines grassroots effort named 1 000 Kids for Iowa seeks to relocate at least 1 000 unaccompanied immigrant children from Central America to Iowa. Rich Eychaner founder of the Eychaner Foundation says Iowa families will provide homes and services while federal action moves forward. Iowa LULAC and Davenport officials back the plan as a humanitarian response and part of a larger Caring Cities Campaign.
