Cedar Rapids airport plans major 960000 expansion
Cedar Rapids Airport Commission unveiled a near million dollar expansion for Municipal airport including a new administration building a large hangar and 20 private T hangars with total costs about 960000 shared with the federal government about two thirds federal one third city bonds worth about 585000 to be issued next August to cover the citys share with projects to be completed by late summer 1951.

Four Die in Head-On Collision East of Postville
Special to The Gazette four people were killed and three injured Saturday night when a car collided head on with a Farm Service oil truck four miles east of Postville in a heavy rainstorm. The dead include Ray Wheeler and his wife of Waterloo, their nine month old son David Wheeler, and Harry Lehman of Cedar Falls. Injured were Shirley Wheeler about seven and Clauda Wheeler about five of Waterloo in fair condition with head and chest injuries, and Dale Hickman 19 of Waterloo with a broken right leg. The Wheeler family car carried seven persons. Joe Wagner of Postville drove the oil truck and escaped injury. The crash occurred between 7 and 7:30 p.m. on Highway 52 amid poor visibility. Some bodies required an acetylene torch to remove from the wreckage. The bodies were taken to a Postville funeral home. Clayton county sheriff’s office investigated.

U S Planes Begin Reconnaissance Off South China Coast
