St Luke's reports fewer patients this month
St Luke's Hospital faces a 15 percent drop in daily admissions this month versus last year, blamed on economic hardship and insurance gaps. Hospital officials say summer patterns and vacations also play a role, with plans to cut hours by 10 percent and shift to ambulatory and outpatient services. Mercy Hospital reports a smaller, but similar, decline.
