A 13 member Cedar Rapids group from the Antique Automobile Club of America attended a four day meeting marking the golden anniversary of the Glidden tour in Minneapolis. Cedar Rapids winners include Marilyn Moeller for first in Old Time swim suit, George Thompson for first in his class with a 1931 Stutz convertible, and Chet Kennedy third in his class with a 1909 Hupmobile roadster.
Bids will be taken July 23 for a bridge on Highway 101 at the Cedar River overflow channel north of Vinton. Additional bids are planned for a bridge on Highway 172 over the Turkey River near Clermont and 0.8 miles of asphaltic concrete resurfacing on Highway 1 in Mt. Vernon. Farm-to-market work includes 3.45 miles of asphalt paving from Highway 51 and grading and culverts in Allamakee County, plus grading and surfacing in Buchanan County.
