Cedar Rapids faces three tax hikes in coming year
Voters in Cedar Rapids have raised taxes three times since August, lifting property tax by 5 percent for the school district and adding a one cent sales tax from January. Rural voters push revote on Linn County option tax
Rural residents led by farmer Bob Kettelkamp petition for a revote on the one year local option sales tax in Linn County. Farm Bureau backing aims to collect 4 619 signatures from unincorporated areas within seven days to place the issue on the ballot. City support across Linn County included unanimous approval except two towns already opting in. Proceeds are projected at about 26 2 million with collection slated to begin Jan 1.
