Sovern Will Be Candidate for C.R. School Post

Cedar Rapids resident Steve Sovern, 151 Thirty seventh street NE, announced his candidacy for the Cedar Rapids school board in the September 14 election. The 28 year old sales manager at Nesper Sign Advertising Steve Severn Co. has teaching and counseling pengalaman from St. Charles Boys home in Milwaukee and has led youth programs with the Jaycees and St. Matthew's church. He advocates the Community School Concept to turn schools into neighborhood centers using existing facilities for after hours enrichment. He is married to Bonnie and they have two children Eric and Grant. Ernest Pence is the only other candidate, with incumbent board members Waldo Berger and Barnes O'Donnell up for re-election.
